CATS (Children As Actors For Transforming Society) Forum 2017 – Reaching for an inclusive world

Purpose

The guiding principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child are that every child has the right to participation and that it should be inclusive for even the most marginalized. CATS 2017 will explore how children all around the world are creating an inclusive world.

Organizers

The event is organized by Eurochild, Initiatives et Changement France, Child to Child, Universal Education Foundation / Learning 4 Well Being.

Rationale

One-third of the 7 billion people on our planet are children who have amazing gifts and talents to share. As the world becomes more globalized, some people are able to find their place, but others feel shut out and alone.

For children, in particular, finding their place in a “grown-up” world can seem nearly impossible. To build a bright, hopeful future, we need to create a more inclusive world, one in which individuals’ rights are respected, where each can find their place and have a voice.

Together with street children, those with disabilities and children experiencing war, the CATS 2017 Forum will gather a diverse group to focus  on “Children and Inclusion.” Through understanding different circumstances, highlighting true stories and good practice, and creating a unique space where children and adults are partners in transforming society, CATS will be a model to inspire others.

Date and time

CATS Forum (Children As Actors For Transforming Society) will be held at Caux, Switzerland from July 29 to August 4, 2017.
